Threatened Habitats
Many plants and animals are threatened because of the
destruction of their habitat.
Threatened habitats are areas of land, particularly forests,
that are in danger of disappearing. The animals and plants that live there are
in danger of becoming extinct.
The biggest threat to wildlife is from the habitat loss
caused by humans. The greatest impact comes from clearing forests and woodlands
for agriculture. Humans also destroy habitats by pollution, introducing
invasive plants and pests and clearing areas for homes and roads.
